Hi All - I am trying to laminate 9 lb high density ethafoam to a medite II surface and was wondering if anyone has used the 3M Super 77 or 3M 90 Hi-Strength spray adhesive to do this? Or maybe success using another kind of adhesive? I might add this is not going into a sealed case.....

Also does anyone know of these two 3M products being Oddy tested?

We use staples to attach ethafoam to our backboards and then cover them fabric.  You may want to cross post this question on the PACIN ListServe.

Thanks Philip. I was just thinking of cross posting. I would imagine the staples would make a sort of dent in the ethafoam - how do you prevent it from telegraphing through your fabric?

If it's not going into a sealed case, would you consider contact cement (then covering w/fabric)?

We use 1/4" crown staples and have not had a problem with the dents showing up on the finished panel which is often in raking light. Philip Brutz

The Getty has tested 3M super spray 77 several times and it passed their Oddy test, if I remember correctly from the lists they used to send out.  Additionally, I've never had a museum turn down my suggestion to use it to adhere fabrics.

We use hot glue.
