Mountmaking Forum ›Question regarding silicone sheeting

Comer, Jill

6/19/14

I am wondering if anyone can recommend a very thin silicone sheeting that could be used instead of wax to secure objects to a glass shelf—something that would keep stable objects from wandering in case of vibrations, etc…?

Ideally, it would have also already passed an Oddy test.

Thanks so much!

Hello Jill,

In the past, for short term exhibitions, I've used these sheets...

particularly item number 86435K45

They work well for discrete non-skid action. As for ODDY, I am not sure. We are not set up to do ODDY testing here unfortunately. We haven't had any issues though and I've used them from time to time over the past 4 years.
