Mountmaking Forum ›DuoMite Bender: Which Series should I purchase?

Hi Everyone!

Still reeling from the Mountmakers Forum! Thank you to everyone involved!

I've come back to reality and a pile of mounts needed. I'm ready to get my first DuoMite Bender (yes, I've been bending by hand, like a fool). Which type are you all using mountmaking work?

I use the 5000 series, but I have many different size dies for it and the edge bender.

I bought mine years ago off of eBay and whenever I have the opportunity I add to my set, adding steel, aluminum, brass and nylon posts and dies. As you become use to it you will see opportunities to make it more versatile, have fun. Also there are some instructions on the internet for using the bender for other tasks, make a copy to keep with the unit, the instruction for flat bar bending the hard way ( on the flat) is great.

Don’t forget the edge bending kit. I’ve regretted not getting it for years, especially when I need to bend a piece of metal the “hard way”. It really works to keep the stock from twisting.

It was great to see pictures of George and Phillip’s kits. I’m still using the box that is now 20 years old and it’s about time I got with the program.
