The Center for Collections Care (C3) at Beloit College has added a second session of Mount Making: The Design and Fabrication of Archival Mounts for Exhibits to meet demand. The first session is fully booked, but there are six spots open in the second session, which is confirmed to run July 22-26, 2024. Both sessions are taught by Pam Gailbe and Earl Lock. Greetings, The Center for Collections Care at Beloit College is offering two mount making courses this summer: Mount Making: The Design and Fabrication of Archival Mounts, June 13-16, 2023 (taught by Earl Lock and Pam Gaible) Advanced Mount Making, June 19-21(taught by Earl Lock) The Mount Making class is confirmed to run and there are currently FOUR spots left; register soon if you're intersted. Advanced Mount Making needs one more participant to confirm it will run. We are offering $650 scholarships for in-person courses. If you are an emerging professional (current student or five years post-graduation) or work for a small museum you meet our priority criteria. I encourage you to apply even if you do not as we need to spend the grant-funds that support these scholarships. Scholarship deadline is April 7, apply soon! Questions? It’s with great excitement that we announce that Beloit College, Center for Collections Care, was awarded a prestigious National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Preservation and Access Education and Training Grant for $349,971. Funds will support two post graduate fellowships, scholarships for emerging professionals and small museums, libraries, archives, and other cultural organizations, and the development of two new online courses: Fundamentals of Collections Management and Culturally Appropriate Stewardship. Scholarships are available for the 2023 season and the application will soon be posted to the C3 website.
