Hello all. I know this post has come up over the years, the only optional material I've seen here was tested in Cleveland in 2016...

We use Black "Novasuede" from http://www.majilite.com/ It has passed our Oddy test.

Philip, does this product come with acrylic adhesive backing perchance? Has ANYONE else found any other replacements that have passed ODDY testing!? Benchmark is officially not producing this product anymore and I have a heck of a lot of black mounts hungry for sueded release.
What say you colleagues?
yours,
James
Recently, some material marketed as sueded polyethylene was found to be nylon instead when tested by FTIR. Alternatively, some product lines of ultrasuede regularly pass the Oddy test. These can be found by searching for the Museum line. 3M double sided acrylic tape can be used to attach the fabric inside display cases or on mounts.
Hi Jamie! Oddly enough I have recently been in several Zoom meetings discussing that very tape. Or ODDY enough.
Thank you my friend!
Hi James,
I've been using 3M 465 roll adhesive to make Novasuede self-adhesive. 465 has passed Oddy and is generally regarded as a safe adhesive. It's not always as solid under shear stress as I might like and can creep a little, but overall it is easy to apply and generally works well for me.
