Hi All,
We have several standing ceramic figures in our collection that I am tasked with making a more secure mount for storage.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Attached is a picture of one on an old mount.
They are about 20 inches high by 9 inches wide.
Thanks! Lisa Barrera Collections Manager Indian Arts Research Center SAR Santa Fe, NM 87505

This looks like a Cochiti figure. Sturdy double walled blue board box and an ethafoam recess would do it or chunks of foam to support the figure in the box. If you do not think the blue board is sturdy enough try corraplast - white corrugated plastic. To avoid the rough surface of the foam add a thin layer of virgin batting over the foam in contact areas with a layer of washed soft tyvek. Cut a slit in the foam with xacto knife and stuff tyvek into the groove using a boning knife or plastic knife like tool. Best, Pam
